Interest in Liquid Biopsy, a test that enables the diagnosis or analysis of tumors using only a blood or fluid sample instead of a solid tissue biopsy, has increased recently among breast cancer patients who are interested in its use for detecting a breast cancer recurrence or monitoring how metastasis may be responding to treatment. There has not been much study of liquid biopsy with patients who have or have had ILC.

LBCA worked with our Scientific Advisory Board to create this fact sheet to provide information on liquid biopsy tests and what is known of their utility specifically in cases of lobular breast cancer, it includes answers to the following questions:

  • What is a liquid biopsy?
  • What is Minimal Residual Disease (MRD)
  • What are liquid biopsies used for?
  • Why are liquid biopsies helpful?

The fact sheet also shares key findings in studies of liquid biopsy tests that focused on patients with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC).
