The LBCA website is designed for educational and informational purposes only. The information provided is general in nature. LBCA also links to social media sites housed on Facebook, and patient networking portals hosted by outside organizations as a resource for those patients who might want to join online communities to communicate with other patients who have ILC for patient-to-patient support.  However, LBCA does not administer these social media forums, and we do not review or edit the content posted there for accuracy, and are not responsible for the material that is posted or shared on these sites.  We would encourage all patients to take any information they find on any social media forums to their medical team for personal medical advice.

The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance shares educational information about ongoing clinical trials for patients with lobular breast cancer.  LBCA does not sponsor or run the clinical trials, and the scientific validity and safety of the trials is the responsibility of the trial investigators.  Patients should always discuss their participation in any clinical trial directly with their doctor and learn more by contacting the clinical trial coordinators listed above directly.  Learn more about participating in clinical trials.

The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance is a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), a registered public charity in California.

Description of SEE:  Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) was formed in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For 22 years we have been providing support services to start-up nonprofit projects in order to alleviate the initial obstacles faced when transforming a project vision into a reality.  SEE serves as the administrator for LBCA to enable LBCA to grow with administrative assistance and with the ability to raise tax-deductible donations and except grants from foundations.

All donations made to SEE for the benefit of LBCA incur a 6.5% administrative fee to cover administrative costs.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

LBCA collects email addresses of individuals who opt-in to receive e-newsletters and updates or announcements by email from LBCA.   We also collect information in two optional fields that a user does not have to submit to receive a periodic e-newsletter.  We collect first names so our emails can be personalized to be less likely to caught in spam filters.  We collect optional general location information (zip codes or country information) to enable us to send emails that might be of interest based to users in a specific geographic area, for example to alert them of a local event that may be of interest to subscribers or of clinical trial or other research opportunity that might be available locally.

Users can unsubscribe from email newsletters or to change their subscription at anytime using the unsubscribe feature at the bottom of the email they receive.  LBCA uses the email service Mailchimp to send and manage its emails and users can unsubscribe directly from the “unsubscribe feature at the bottom of that email”.  Mailchimp’s privacy policy can be read here.

Users who unsubscribe via Mailchimp will also be removed from the plug-in form on our website that captures the user submitted information, which is run by Gravity Forms (view the Gravity Forms privacy policy here).  Subscribers can also request to be removed from all lists by by emailing info@lobularbreastcancer.org.  LBCA will not sell or rent your email address, or share it with other organizations or individuals without your consent.

LBCA does not use cookies in order to customize this site for return visitors.

Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) processes and houses all credit card information from donations, and maintains records of all donors to LBCA/SEE. Embedded Content from other Sites

Articles on the site may include links to external sites (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc).  Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.  Articles linked to this website or to emails we send out may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that website.

Social Share 

This website uses a plug-in called Sassy Social Share to make sharing webpages and posts easier.  This plug in does not track any user data. But if the plugin links to a third party service, they might track user data.

This plugin includes a Facebook widget that may collect your IP address, your web browser User Agent, store and retrieve cookies on your browser, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the widget, including correlating your Facebook account with whatever action you take within the widget (such as “liking/sharing/recommending” our webpage), if you are logged in to Facebook. The plugin uses a Twitter Tweet widget at our website. As a result, our website makes requests to Twitter’s servers for you to be able to tweet our webpages using your Twitter account. The plugin uses a GooglePlus widget at our website. As a result, our website makes requests to Google’s servers for you to be able to share our webpages using your GooglePlus account. Analytics

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site.  Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.

If you email us at info@lobularbreastcancer.org with questions or to be in touch with our organization

Emailed questions and requests sent to info@lobularbreastcancer.org or any other email addresses ending @lobularbreastcancer.org will be responded to by volunteers for LBCA, and the email and content will be used only as needed to respond to the request as best we can.   LBCA cannot provide medical or treatment advice or referrals to medical providers.   We discourage users from emailing sensitive personal or health information to us, and encourage you to communicate your health questions and concerns directly to your medical team.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data.  When you make a contribution to LBCA, that contribution is made to Social Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) and your information will be retained by SEE.

How long we retain your data

LBCA will retain your information for email newsletters until a user removes it using the Mailchimp unsubscribe function or emails info@lobularbreastcancer.org and requests to be removed.

What rights you have over your data

If you have subscribed to e newsletters on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.  You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.  This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

How we protect your data

LBCA subscribes to web security services services through our website hosting company, Go Daddy, including SSL certificates and a Website Protection Security subscription service.
