Donate This Month & Your Gift Will Be Matched

In the five years since I was surprised with a diagnosis of lobular breast cancer, learned about breast cancer types, and how troubling this type is and how little is known about it, I wish I could say that has all changed.    It has not!

Our fierce community of those of us who have had or are living with lobular breast cancer is fervently spreading the word about this sneaky type of breast cancer. But we still have so much work to do – lobular breast cancer remains woefully understudied.

So, my appeal to you this Breast Cancer Awareness Month is about pushing harder, being louder, and giving more than ever before because lobular breast cancer needs more research.

And if you give now, your generous donation will be doubled. Thanks to the generosity of Barbara Lynn Wilkie, the Judy and Peter Blum Kovler Foundation, Pranav Popat, Maryanne Bombaugh, Joe and Laurie Hutcheson, and three anonymous donors, the first $90,000 raised before December 31 will be matched dollar for dollar.

With your help, we can double down and spread the word more widely and effectively, help more newly diagnosed lobular breast cancer patients find the resources and support of the LBCA community, and ensure more lobular breast cancer research is funded.

For patients newly diagnosed with lobular breast cancer:

  • It is still a struggle to find information about this unique breast cancer type and to find resources like LBCA that can help people make more informed treatment decisions.
  • There has not yet been a clinical trial to find a drug to target metastatic lobular breast cancer.
  • We are not confident that radiologists are always aware of the challenges that lobular breast cancer poses for accurate imaging.

Your support helps us work to change this. Please consider acting today – we want your generosity to go as far as possible!

You can make your gift online on our donate page or you can send a check made payable to LBCA Inc. to P.O. Box 200, Whitehorse Beach, MA 02381.

Please contact me if you have any questions about making a gift.

In gratitude,

Laurie Hutcheson, LBCA Executive Director
