It's Time to Talk About Lobular Breast Cancer!
For LBCA’s annual campaign to raise awareness of Lobular Breast Cancer during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re going big this year and setting out to Talk About Lobular Breast Cancer across the country, September 26th – October 15th!

The results of recent surveys by LBCA reveal that despite nearly 50,000 new diagnoses each year and cases increasing faster than other breast cancer types, 4 in 5 Americans have never heard of lobular breast cancer. Even among those diagnosed with breast cancer, nearly half (47%) have never heard of lobular breast cancer. Plus, we know that ILC patients receive little information about their disease at diagnosis.
- More than 8 in 10 ILC patients say no one on their care team gave them comprehensive information about ILC at diagnosis.
- 85% of U.S. ILC patients say their hospitals have no lobular breast cancer information on their websites.
- Fewer than 1% are told about LBCA and our resources for ILC patients!
This has to change – it’s time to Talk About Lobular Breast Cancer!
We’re driving cross-country on an ILC awareness tour in a coach bus wrapped in a graphic with the pictures of women with lobular breast cancer and facts about ILC. We will drive cross country as a rolling educational billboard. Launching after the ILC Symposium in San Francisco on September 26th and traveling across the US, the tour will end in Boston on October 15th, Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
The bus tour will take us to 10+ cities, 5 hospital ILC programs, athletic events, and many advocate gatherings where we will share ILC and LBCA information and document the stops on social media during the trip*. Our goal is to raise awareness locally at each stop and attract national attention for lobular breast cancer and LBCA!
We’d love for you to be involved in this nationwide effort to raise awareness, here are some of the ways you can get involved:
- Join us at the launch If you’re attending the ILC Symposium in CA!
- Join us at a city along the tour if we’re close to where you live!
- Share your ILC Story in a social media reel or printed hand out!
- Support the awareness bus tour by helping us cover the costs of the trip as a sponsor or donor!
Let us know how you’d like to get involved at the link below and an LBCA staff member will be in touch with you about next steps. *Details about the itinerary and where you can meet and/or hop on the bus will be coming soon.
Raising Awareness Takes ALL OF US - Help Drive Change by Supporting the Awareness Bus Tour!
Every conversation started, every story shared, every community reached, and every dollar invested helps amplify our message that It’s Time to Talk About Lobular Breast Cancer.
LBCA depends on donations of support to fuel the mission and we are seeking donations of any size. We need help covering costs for items from bus rental to fuel and lodging to educational materials. Additionally there are expenses and equipment needs for production of community event presentations, hosting platforms to enable live streaming, and PR costs to work with influencers, national media and celebrities.
We are offering a special opportunity for you to “Ride with us” even if you can’t join us.
With a donation of $2,600, we’ll adorn a seat on the bus with your picture so that you come along on every mile of the journey.
If you’ve ever wished more people understood lobular breast cancer, this is your chance to help make that happen! Your support will help us reach thousands of people across the country, ignite conversations about lobular breast cancer, a breast cancer type that needs more attention, and connect people to LBCA and the comprehensive resources we provide.
Whether you join us at a stop along the tour, share your story, volunteer, become a sponsor, or make a gift of any amount to support the journey, you’re helping ensure that more people hear the words “lobular breast cancer” —and remember—our important messages of how it is different and why it so desperately needs more research and specific treatments.
Every mile traveled, every conversation started, and every story shared brings us one step closer to a future where no one hears the words “you have lobular breast cancer” without also finding LBCA’s trusted information, resources and community of hope.
Thank you for helping us take this message from coast to coast
