The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) is pleased to announce that we have just launched another solicitation to fund an ILC research fellowship with our partner the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The 2023 AACR-Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Research Fellowship will be a two-year grant in the amount of $120,000 that will be awarded in June 2023 with the grant term beginning on July 1, 2023.
“We are so grateful for all of you who have helped enable us to partner once again with AACR to fund invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) research directly,” said LBCA Executive Director Laurie Hutcheson. “These fellowships are so important for encouraging ILC research and enticing investigators who may be new to the field to consider focusing their research on advancing knowledge of lobular breast cancer.”
“The American Association for Cancer Research is excited to enter into the second year of our partnership with the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance. There is a critical need to advance the understanding of invasive lobular carcinoma, the second most common histological subtype of breast cancer,” commented John Zhang, PhD, Senior Managing Director, Strategic Scientific Initiatives. “The AACR-Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Research Fellowship is a joint effort to support and encourage innovative research projects with direct applicability and relevance to ILC and to help establish a successful career path in the field.”
The first stage of the ILC research fellowship application process is the submission of a competitive letter of intent due by January 20, 2023. Successful candidates will be invited to submit full applications. As in the previous ILC research fellowship, applicants will be required to develop their applications, and if awarded, implement their study working with ILC patient advocates. Those interested in learning more about this solicitation and how to apply for this grant can visit the AACR website.
