ILC Stories
Building a Community Amongst Peers
All breast cancer isn’t the same, and invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), also know as lobular breast cancer, is a unique subtype of the disease. Many individuals diagnosed with ILC and their loved ones have found their way to the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) and want to help build a community among peers. They want to share the most current information about ILC detection, treatment, and clinical trials with others. They also want to raise awareness about this common, yet understudied breast cancer type that desperately needs more research. Through their videos and personal stories we are educating others, raising awareness about ILC and LBCA as a resource, and advocating for more research.
Video Reels From Lobular Breast Cancer Survivors, Patients and Families
Hear from Lobular Breast Cancer survivors, patients and families about their experience being diagnosed with ILC. These reels were created and shared as part of the first Global Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day, October 15, 2024.
Individuals Telling Their ILC Stories
LBCA is thankful for those who have been diagnosed with ILC and others who want to write about their experiences with lobular breast cancer. Reading their stories is so important to those going through their own journey with ILC.

Tribute Videos
The family of LBCA Board Member Dr. Deborah Mueller who passed away precipitously in early 2023 from metastatic lobular breast cancer shared a tribute in her memory. Deborah’s widower, Dr. John Doski, and daughters Sarah and Julia, have pledged their ongoing support for LBCA in Deb’s memory. She was dedicated to the mission work of LBCA, recalls John. He notes that she was passionately committed to helping raise awareness of lobular breast cancer and promoting ILC research. Not only was she a huge supporter of LBCA but is recalled for all the good that she did as a “master surgeon, inspirational leader, mentor and amazing wife and mother.”
Honoring Those with Lobular Breast Cancer
LBCA asked individuals to record themselves talking about moms and others in their lives who have had an ILC diagnosis. These are their stories. Are you interested in sharing a video telling us about your mother or another loved one who had a lobular breast cancer diagnosis and the importance of ILC awareness, education, and research? Please email communications@lobularbreastcancer.org to request more information on how to submit your video.
