ILC Advocacy at Conferences and Events this June

LBCA staff and Board members participated in several events in the US and Canada this month to advocate and educate about invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), including:

SNMMI Annual Meeting

June 21-24th in New Orleans

LBCA COO, Mason Mitchell-Daniels represented LBCA at the SNMMI annual meeting in New Orleans, a major educational, event for professionals in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging that attracts physicians, technologists, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, and scientists. 

Mason manned a booth for LBCA and distributed educational brochures about ILC. She also met LBCA Research Grantee Dr. Randy Yeh and SAB Member, Dr. Gary Ulaner at a reception for the Mars Shot program, where Dr. Yeh was recognized for his recent research award.

Breast Cancer Awareness Night

June 10th in Pennsylvania

LBCA Research and Communication Officer, Janice Axelrod, raised awareness of ILC during a Breast Cancer Awareness Night at WildThings Park in Washington, PA.  Janice manned a table and distributed educational brochures and flyers about ILC to baseball game attendees as part of the event sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Breast Cancer Symposium of Canada

June 19th-20th in Toronto

LBCA Board member and ILC Patient Advocate Brenda Cunnington was the first panelist at last week’s first ever session on lobular breast cancer at the annual Breast Cancer Symposium of Canada.  Brenda, who helped convince symposium planners to include a lobular session, share her ILC story as part of the presentation.  LBCA ILC research grantee and clinician researcher Dr. David Lim provided a comprehensive update on ILC therapies and research.
