Employer Matching Gifts Are “Free” Money for LBCA

So far this fiscal year, the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) has received nearly $5,000 in matching gifts from companies including Google, Microsoft, Amgen, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and more.  These are gifts that were made to match employee contributions.

Matching gift programs are an extension of many companies’ corporate giving strategy. For employees, they are a great way to expand your capacity to give. The amount companies will provide as a match for employees’ gifts ranges from a 1:1 match to as much as a 5:1 match. This means if an employee makes a $1,000 gift, the company will match it with a $5,000 gift! Ratios vary and maximum and minimum gift amounts vary, but what doesn’t vary is that LBCA receives this additional funding to support our mission.

Do you know if your employer has a matching gift program? Check with your supervisor or your company HR department. Don’t miss this opportunity to make your gift more valuable in funding LBCA’s mission to increase awareness and fund ILC research. Typically, companies have timelines and deadlines to meet – so don’t waste another moment – check today!  Follow your company’s procedures and submit for the match as soon as possible.

It has been reported that an estimated four to seven billion dollars in matching gifts go unclaimed each year – don’t let your gift be part of that total.
