Dr. Kate Beecher Matthews Receives 2026 LBCA Early Investigator ILC Research Grant

LBCA is pleased to announce Dr. Kate Beecher Matthews as the recipient of the 2026 LBCA Early Investigator Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Research Grant. Funded by LBCA and managed and administered by Conquer Cancer through EveryGrant®, this $50,000, one-year grant supports promising early-career investigators working to advance ILC research.

Dr. Beecher Matthews’s study will explore SCUBE2, a protein that helps cells maintain their structure and connections to one another. Her research will investigate whether the loss of SCUBE2 contributes to the distinctive diffuse growth pattern of ILC, with the potential to deepen understanding of the disease’s unique biology.

By investing in early-career investigators, LBCA aims to cultivate the next generation of ILC researchers and fuel long-term progress toward better detection and treatment.
