A Conversation with LBCA Scientific Advisory Board member Matthew Sikora, PhD, Discussing Basic Research and Supporting the Lab
The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) provides information and tools to help individuals who want to educate others about lobular breast cancer, also known as invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). LBCA also provides links to training resources for breast cancer research advocacy, which enable people to promote more ILC research. The LBCA’s Advocate Chat series provides people with a way to learn more about different aspects of patient advocacy and to network with other patient advocates.
On July 20, 2022, LBCA held the latest installment of its Advocate Chat series titled Laboratory Research Logistics – What Is Basic Research and How Do We Support the Lab? A Conversation with Dr. Matt Sikora on the Wild World of Research.
During the interactive webinar, Dr. Sikora spoke on multiple topics including what basic laboratory research is, who works in the lab and what equipment is needed, how research is funded, what the grant funding process looks like, and ways advocates can partner with researchers.
