LBCA Advocacy for ILC Awareness – Core to Our Mission
LBCA’s advocacy initiatives to raise awareness of ILC and promote more ILC research are the heart of our mission. Every day we strive to make more people aware that breast cancer has types, and of the idiosyncrasies and issues of lobular breast cancer that need focused research. We continue to educate clinicians everywhere about ILC and urge the research community to focus on learning more to develop ILC specific treatments and methods of detection. LBCA is proud of recent results from our efforts:
- LBCA was recognized for advocacy in raising awareness of ILC in Massachusetts and working towards enacting a law recognizing October 15th Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day in Massachusetts annually.
- The 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO) Annual Meeting Education Committee notified LBCA that the themes and topics of our proposed session, “Novel Perspectives in Invasive Lobular Carcinoma” will be fully incorporated into the 2026 Annual Meeting Education Program. This will be the first incidence of an ILC education session at ASCO!
