In November 2021, Dr. Candace Frerich was named the recipient of the inaugural AACR – Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) Research Fellowship. Dr. Frerich is a postdoctoral researcher at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.

Her research is focusing on understanding more about why ILC tumors sometimes grow and spread differently and are sometimes resistant to estrogen blocking treatments. She will be examining the role that glucocorticoid receptors play in these processes. Dr. Frerich’s research has potential for identifying targeted treatments to prevent lobular breast cancer from metastasizing.

Update! This grant has ended prematurely because Dr. Frerich moved away from Texas. The colleagues in her former lab will continue her research. LBCA will share the results once we receive them.
