In the past year, the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) has been able to issue three invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) research grant solicitations. These initiatives have resulted in numerous, excellent lobular breast cancer research submissions, and great studies are underway. It is clear the solicitations have also generated growing interest in ILC research.

While we are thrilled to see so many researchers interested in studying ILC through these initiatives, it is hard that we are limited to awarding only one grant and must leave so many promising ILC research studies unfunded. That is why we have decided to redouble our efforts to raise sufficient funds so that this spring we might award not just one but two ILC research grants. This will allow us to avoid the wait associated with launching a new ILC research grant solicitation in the fall resulting in a grant award that would not occur until Spring 2024.
