Sharing Your ILC Story
Many individuals diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), also known as lobular breast cancer have found their way to the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) and want to help build a community among peers. LBCA is thankful for those who have been diagnosed with ILC who want to share their experiences. Reading these stories is so important to those going through their own journey with ILC.Â
Before submitting your story, please understand that by doing so, you are sharing your story with the intent that it (your name, story, and photo) will be told to the public. ILC Stories are shared on our website, in our newsletter and on social media.Â
You will be asked to submit your story in approximately 400 words. We’ve provided questions as a guide for those who have experienced lobular breast cancer, but encourage health providers, researchers, or caregivers to tell their stories as well. You are welcome to tell your story in any way you choose.
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do for a living?
Can you tell us how were you diagnosed (self-identification, mammogram, other imaging, etc.) with lobular breast cancer?
How did you get information about ILC as you made your treatment or post cancer treatment choices?
Did you use LBCA resources (ex. information you found on our website?) What was helpful about it?
How did you find out about LBCA? Is there any information you wish you could get about ILC that is not available because there have not been studies to answer the questions?
Have you engaged in any advocacy activities around lobular with LBCA or other organizations to educate others about ILC or to work with researchers or evaluate research applications? If so, what have you found the most exciting, important, or rewarding about this experience?
What education and treatment resources would you like to see in the future for patients with ILC?
What advice would you give to someone facing a lobular breast cancer diagnosis / treatment?
Photo Submission: In most instances we will want to use a photo with your story. Files must be less than 5 MB, a jpg is preferred. Before publication you will also be asked to complete a Consent and Release Form emailed to you by LBCA.
If you’d like to submit your story, download the form below and send it to communications@lbca.org or email us with any questions.
