Dear Friends,
I will never forget the day I got my biopsy results. “Invasive lobular carcinoma,” the nurse oncologist said.
Lobular breast cancer… As you can imagine, everything changed for me in that moment. They said my cancer had been growing for years. I was dumbfounded.
My mammograms were always clear. I had no family history. No risk factors.
How could this be happening?
I suspect my story sounds all too familiar to you. Since I joined this organization, I have heard similar stories over and over and over again.
Scared and confused women like me. Desperate to understand how it was missed and angry so little is known about this type of breast cancer.
It doesn’t have to be this way. You can help.
When I was diagnosed in 2018, I scoured the internet for information about this disease. There was almost nothing to be found. Then I stumbled upon the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA). LBCA saved my sanity….
I found answers to my many questions on the website. There were helpful documents I could share with my care team. And I was welcomed into a community of other people who were also facing lobular breast cancer.
LBCA was a beacon of hope for me. Maybe for you too?
In the last five years, thanks to the generosity of people like you, we’ve become the go-to resource on invasive lobular carcinoma. For patient information. For advocacy and awareness. And for championing new research.
We could not have come so far in such a short time without all the support from this incredible community.
Still, there is so much more to be done.
That’s why I’m writing to you now. Because we can’t defeat this deadly disease without your help.
Today, hundreds of thousands of women are living with the uncertainty of lobular breast cancer… Terrified of a recurrence or progression of a metastasis.
All of us are depending on LBCA—and your support of LBCA—to do what we can’t do on our own. To create a world where lobular breast cancer is detected early, treated effectively, and eradicated permanently.
I hope I can count on your generosity to help make this vision a reality. And right now, your donation will go twice as far if you give thanks to a dedicated group of donors* matching all contributions dollar for dollar, up to $100,000, through the end of the year.
Together we can raise greater public awareness about this sneaky breast cancer, advocate for more research dollars dedicated to lobular breast cancer, and ensure cancer centers and doctors share information about lobular breast cancer and LBCA with their patients. So please consider making a gift and doubling your impact today.
Thank you in advance for your generous support. We truly cannot do this work without you.
With gratitude,
Laurie Hutcheson, Executive Director
* All gifts made by December 31, 2022, will be matched, up to $100,000, thanks to the generosity of several donors including Barbara Lynn Wilkie, the Judy and Peter Blum Kovler Foundation, Maryanne Bombaugh, Joe and Laurie Hutcheson, Terri Wesselman, and four anonymous donors.
