Many Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) supporters are interested in learning more about how they can encourage others to give to our mission. Peer-to-peer fundraising is one of those ways. It is a method that encourages many people to donate money to help meet the overall goal of an individual or an organization. It is a fundraising method that enables you to solicit donations from friends, family members, co-workers, fellow club or congregation members, classmates, etc. in a way that conveys your passion for our cause and invite everyone to help you broadly spread the word and support our mission.
Sometimes this fundraising method can be set up by someone affiliated with a specific activity in which they are taking part, such as a race, a walk, a hike or a dance. One of those people who was recently moved to assist in this way was LBCA intern and Bentley University student Chase Ormiston who last December, 2024 worked with her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma to hold a talent show to raise money for cancer-related causes including LBCA. The talent show featuring students performing all sorts of acts, both serious and silly, raised over $10,000 for LBCA! Chase found planning the event both a fun and personal way to fight to end lobular breast cancer which has affected her family.
LBCA executive director Laurie Hutcheson can help you set up a dedicated fundraising page within LBCA’s donor platform, or can provide you with a QR code that will link to the LBCA donation page to use at an event you may be hosting or to add to a flyer you might share with your friends. Just message a request for assistance to Laurie at LaurieHutcheson@lbca.org. Or you can create a fundraiser through Facebook.
