LBCA, BCRF and AACR fund ILC Career Development ILC Research Grant Solicitation

LBCA is pleased to announce that through a new collaboration between LBCA and Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and through AACR, which has helped LBCA issue and administer ILC grant solicitations previously, LBCA and BCRF have together just issued a two-year, $150,000 Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance – Breast Cancer Research Foundation Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) Career Development Award grant solicitation.

“We are so pleased and thankful to be able to leverage our funds raised with that of BCRF to enable us to issue another, critically needed ILC research grant solicitation in this year when breast cancer research funding is so scarce,” says LBCA executive director Laurie Hutcheson.

BCRF Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Dorraya El-Ashry shared similar sentiments saying: “Almost ten years ago, BCRF sponsored the first ever international symposium on lobular breast cancer. A unique feature of the symposium was the involvement of people living with a lobular breast cancer diagnosis. The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance was formed by patients at that meeting and has grown to be the leading resource for information on ILC. BCRF is proud to join with LBCA and AACR to support this career development award in lobular breast cancer.”

Grant applications in any aspect of clinical or basic research directly related to lobular breast cancer will be considered. The deadline to apply for the grant, which was announced on October 15th, Global Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day is December 16th.
