Research Advocate Education: Lobular Breast Cancer- A Different Disease

Susan G. Komen partnered with the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance to host a webinar Lobular Breast Cancer: A Different Disease.  This webinar is geared towards established research advocates and those interested in learning about advocacy.

This webinar is presented by Steffi Oesterreich, PhD Komen Scholar and chair of LBCA’s Scientific Advisory Board and Leigh Pate, Komen Advocate in Science and director of the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance.  The webinar includes an overview of lobular breast cancer and explores some of the unique biological aspects of the disease and its differences from more common ductal breast cancers. It discusses challenges patients with lobular encounter in making treatment decisions, needs in research to better understand and treat the disease, and ways advocates can incorporate ILC in their advocacy work.

Susan G. Komen Advocates in Science

Susan G. Komen established its Advocates in Science (AIS) Program to develop skilled, knowledgeable and broadly‐networked breast cancer research advocates and actively engage them throughout the research process.  AIS advocates bring the patient voice to Komen’s – and other organizations’—research programs in all areas of breast cancer research.

If  you are interested in research advocacy and would like more information about the AIS program, or how to join, learn more and reach out to advocatesinscience@komen.org.
