From California to Massachusetts, the Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Tour brought the message “It’s Time to Talk About Lobular Breast Cancer” to communities across the country. Over nearly three weeks, the tour bus visited cancer centers, community events, and advocacy gatherings, connecting patients, clinicians, researchers, and advocates to share information about ILC, elevate patient stories, and build awareness of LBCA, its resources and community for individuals who have had or are living with ILC.
The tour generated media attention for lobular breast cancer and LBCA across the country. Coverage included KSL.com’s reporting from Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, NBC4 Columbus’s coverage at Ohio State Outpatient Care Powell in Powell, Ohio, NBC10’s coverage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, WCVB Channel 5’s coverage in Boston, Massachusetts, and Plymouth Independent’s article recapping the tour’s final destination by the Mayflower and Plymouth rock in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The tour was also featured on AuntMinnie’s “Women’s Imaging MinnieCast,” where LBCA Executive Director Laurie Hutcheson and Dr. Manisha Bahl discussed the tour and the challenges of detecting and treating ILC. Plus, Dr. Eleonora Teplinsky also interviewed Laurie Hutcheson on her podcast, “Interlude: Women’s Cancer Stories with Dr. Telpinsky,” which aired on October 15th, Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
