On September 14, 2022, the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) presented Highlights of the 2022 Joint International ELBCC/Lobsterpot & LBCA Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) Symposium in partnership with the European Lobular Breast Cancer Consortium (ELBCC)/Lobsterpot.
Program participants were able to hear presentations on the key aspects of the ILC science in lay terms that were presented during the in-person ILC Symposium this past June. The webinar began with a video tribute and moment of silence for LBCA Founder Leigh Pate who we lost days after the symposium took place this summer.
Next, three researcher panelists shared highlights of the basic science and the translational and clinical ILC research presented in Utrecht. First, ELBCC member George Sflomos, PhD, presented on much of the basic science shared at the in-person conference. Next, 2022 Conquer Cancer/Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Young Investigator Award for ILC Research recipient Karen Van Baelen, MD, presented on translational research. Finally, LBCA Scientific Advisory Board Member Rita Mukhtar, MD, shared lay summaries of the ILC clinical research. These presentations were followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer period. Each of the presenters’ slides are available to view and download:
- Basic Research Presented by Dr. Sflomos
- Translational Research Presented by Dr. Van Baelen
- Clinical Research Presented by Dr. Mukhtar
The event was co-moderated by LBCA Executive Director Laurie Hutcheson, Lobular Breast Cancer UK Founder Claire Turner, and LBCA Communications Director Colleen Fitzwater. Watch the webinar below.
