The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) welcomed our new Development Director Karen Ferguson in January. Karen’s background includes over 15 years in the nonprofit world, most of which has been spent raising funds for organizations where she had passion and connection. This includes the American Red Cross, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and a local healthcare foundation that she developed. Most recently, she was the Chief Development Officer for the Medical Toxicology Foundation.
Karen came to LBCA because she was impressed with the work we have accomplished to date, excited for the opportunity to really help make an impact, and the mission spoke to her. She also recently discovered a personal connection to ILC. She commented, “One of my sisters-in-law was recently diagnosed and is being treated for lobular breast cancer. It has become so clear to me that there is too little awareness about ILC and that it has not gotten the research attention that it needs.”
Karen’s favorite part of working at LBCA is getting to know each donor and understanding their passion for giving. She believes that every donor and every gift is important to accomplishing our mission. Visit our website to make a gift to support LBCA.
