SUMMARY:2023 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS23)
DESCRIPTION:The San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) is an annual event cosponsored by UT Health San Antonio’s Mays Cancer Center and the AACR. Now in its 46th year\, the meeting hosts about 10\,000 clinicians and scientists from all over the world and is the largest and most prestigious scientific gathering on breast cancer research. \nThis Symposium is designed to provide state-of-the-art information on the experimental biology\, etiology\, prevention\, diagnosis\, and therapy of breast cancer and premalignant breast disease to an international audience of academic and private physicians and researchers. \nThe scientific program consists of formal lectures by experts in clinical\, translational\, and basic research\, selected slide and poster presentations\, forums and case discussions. The official language of the symposium is English. Simultaneous translation is not provided \nThis international symposium is directed primarily towards academic and private physicians and researchers involved in breast cancer in medical\, surgical\, gynecologic\, and radiation oncology\, as well as patient advocates and other appropriate health care professionals. \nIn-person and virtual registration is available for the 2023 SABCS Symposium. Registration for patient advocates is free.  If you are registering as a Patient Advocate\, you will be required to upload your proof of status during the registration process.

SUMMARY:26th Annual Alamo Advocate Program
DESCRIPTION:The Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation is hosting its 26th Annual Advocate Program at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) from December 5\, 2023 – December 8\, 2023. This year’s program will be in person and virtual and will include panels\, interviews\, and Hot Topic Sessions. This event is free to advocates. \nPatient advocates experience an intense learning environment at the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS). In conjunction with the scientific sessions\, advocates are provided with an opportunity to interact with leading medical experts during ABCF’s Hot Topics Mentor Sessions\, which are held live on three consecutive evenings during the conference. \nThe panel of experts at the Mentor Sessions report on the most intriguing\, valuable\, and/or controversial research presented that day and then take questions from the in-person and virtual audiences. The Mentor Sessions\, which are live-streamed\, are the premier event for advocates attending SABCS\, providing them the opportunity to interact with recognized breast cancer experts in an intimate learning environment. \nABCF also partners with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) to present a live-streamed educational program for all patient advocates who attend SABCS\, either in person or virtually. This lecture by a leading breast cancer researcher is designed to help patient advocates better understand the basic science of the disease. \nAdditionally\, Advocate Chats are prerecorded interviews between an advocate and an expert in cancer research\, policy\, or care. These chats\, which are 15-to-45-minute discussions\, are available for viewing on the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation YouTube Channel.
