Advocate Travel Scholarship Application

The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance with the support of Susan G. Komen and generous donors is sponsoring a limited number of  scholarships for advocates who need assistance with travel expenses. Travel scholarships are open to applicants living outside the Pittsburgh, PA area, and there will be a limited number of awards for international advocates.  Awards will be $500 for US participants and up to $1000 for international participants.

To apply for the advocate travel scholarships, please complete the full application below.  You will be directed to a confirmation page notifying you that your application was received.  We will notify applicants who submitted their applications by February 15th of their awards by March 10, 2020.  Applications received after February 15th will considered on a rolling basis depending on availability of scholarship funds.

Know Before Applying

Please read and understand the goals and learning objectives of lobular advocacy at the ILC2020 symposium before applying.  An advocate can be a patient, caregiver, family member or interested volunteer who wants to learn more about lobular breast cancer and use that knowledge to advance research, educate or help others impacted by lobular breast disease. Travel scholarship recipients must attend the entire three day conference from Thursday May 14 – Saturday May 16, including all sessions of Lobular Advocacy Boot Camp on May 14Funds will be issued by check within 30 days after the conference.  No receipts will be required, however if you are unable to attend and need to withdraw your application or award, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reallocate funds to others needing assistance.  Scholarship recipients will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements and registering  for the conference.  Reserve hotel accommodations through the conference website for the discounted room rate of $149/night.  Contact with questions about the advocacy program or scholarships.
